AICPA National Appointments

Maher Duessel is proud of the reputation we have built nationally in the non-profit and governmental sectors. As a result of this effort, Maher Duessel partners and senior managers have been selected for pretigious appointments on several AICPA national committees.

Karen McCarthy is an appointed member of the AICPA State and Local Government Expert Panel, the only member from Pennsylvania. The panel is made up of only fourteen individuals from across the country. The purpose of the panel is to identify state and local government financial reporting and auditing issues and to work with appropriate bodies for resolutions benefiting the public interest. It also advises and assists in the development of AICPA products and services related to state and local government audits and accounting.

Diane Edelstein serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center and is one of fourteen nationally appointed members. The Center is committed to helping its members achieve the highest standards in performing quality government audits, and promote  the importance of quality governmental audits and the value of such audits. While most members serve a three-year term, Diane’s term was extended for a fourth year. In 2012, Diane was appointed to the Steering Committee of the AICPA National Not-for-Profit Conference.

Betsy Krisher is a past member of the AICPA National Non-Profit Expert Panel/Audit Guide Revision Task Force and is a current associate member of the AICPA Tax Exempt Organization Tax Resource Panel. Betsy’s service with the Expert Panels involves her with the standard-setting process and provides her with insight into the future direction of accounting standards which will affect non-profit entities. Betsy is also President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the PICPA.

Lisa Ritter currently is part of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Not-for-Profit Resource Group and previously served on the AICPA Auditing Standards Board (ASB). The ASB is the senior technical committee designated by the AICPA to issue auditing, attestation, and quality control statements, standards and guidance to certified public accountants for non-public company audits.
