Connor Hallinan, CPA, Experienced Staff Auditor
Connor served in the United States Coast Guard for nine years before transitioning to a public accounting career. He has a B.S. in Accounting from Saint Francis University and joined Maher Duessel in 2025. He is based out of the State College office.
What was your most memorable moment serving in the Coast Guard? "I was able to participate in an urban search and rescue operation that resulted in the rescue of more than 40 children and adults, along with dozens of pets after record rainfall had stranded residents. For nearly eight hours, our team worked alongside local first responders to clear every home and evacuate everyone we found. Being there for people on their worst days—and having the ability to help—was an incredibly meaningful experience."
What new skills or perspectives have you gained? "Organization and attention to detail are two skills I have developed significantly since changing careers. While both were important in my military career, I have found that they play an even greater role in my day-to-day work as a CPA. This transition has also given me a deeper appreciation for how consistency, precision, and careful review contribute to the success of the team. I feel fortunate to have found a great position at Maher Duessel, where incredible mentors have made each day a little easier."
