  • Jimmy Cochran, Senior Auditor

    Jimmy worked as an actor in the entertainment industry for 8 years before receiving his accounting degree from Westminster College. He joined Maher Duessel in 2023 and is now a senior auditor in the Pittsburgh Office.

    How would you describe your experience transitioning into your role here? "Transitioning from a career in the arts to auditing has been both challenging and rewarding. I’ve found that the creativity and attention to detail I developed in the arts translate well into problem-solving and analytical thinking in this role. The learning curve was steep, but the supportive team at MD helped guide me through any challenges."

    What new skills or perspectives have you gained? "Working at MD has helped me build strong skills in communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail. I’ve learned how to explain financial information in simple terms and support organizations in meeting their goals. Through the resources provided by Maher Duessel, I was able to pass all my CPA exams which boosted my confidence in the services we provide to our clients."

  • Breanna Lent, Manager

    Breanna was an intern with Maher Duessel in 2016 and graduated from Grove City College. She began her career at a Big 4 firm in 2017 before rejoining Maher Duessel in 2021. Breanna is currently a manager in our Pittsburgh office.

    What's one tradition or event at the firm that you look forward to? "I enjoy all the events that our 'fun committee' puts on but specifically our yearly Pirates game. It is a great time to spend time with coworkers outside of work."

    How has mentorship played a role in your growth here? "When I was an intern, I was given a mentor who was there to support me and answer any questions I had. She provided me with a little gift my first day and made the internship enjoyable and fun! I decided to start my career at a different firm, but I still stayed in contact with her, and she is one of the reasons I decided to come back to Maher Duessel. I enjoyed working with her and she is now an amazing friend! Maher Duessel has a program where managers can get regular time with a partner to be mentored and talk through anything they want including how to grow in their career which has been extremely helpful!"
