Nikki joined Maher Duessel in 2016 as a Supervisor, and she was named a Principal of the firm in 2026. Prior to joining Maher Duessel, Nikki's primary industry focus was audits and reviews for various health care facilities. Nikki directs audit engagements for various governmental entities including intermediate units, municipal authorities, and municipalities. She also leads audit/tax engagements for several non-profit entities including health and human service agencies, arts and humanities organizations, and foundations. She has comprehensive experience with Single Audits.
Nikki has taken a leadership role in advancing the firm's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program. She serves as Director of Education, overseeing the planning and execution of the firm’s internal and external CPE seminars, and she has presented on governmental and non-profit accounting and auditing topics such as Fraud and Internal Controls, SAS 143 and 145, and Leases.
A key client specialty area for Nikki is the health care sector. Her prior experience includes performing audit and assurance services for long term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, home health providers, and hospice agencies. Nikki has leveraged her provider audit experience to currently lead an engagement for a state agency, where she helps direct a Disproportionate Share Hospital Examination. For this same state agency, she also previously directed Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) cost report examinations. She also directs financial statement audits for FQHC clients.
