Personal Information

What inspired you to choose a career in public accounting?
The Big 8 firm recruiter essentially talked me into it when I interviewed in college. He told me to give it a shot and if I didn’t like it, I would be well positioned to get another job. Thirty-six year later, here I am, still in public accounting.

What advice would you give to someone joining Maher Duessel fresh out of college?
Embrace the pace and variety of experiences working with our wonderful client base and our talented employees.  You won’t regret it.

If I were not an accountant my dream job would be?
To host an interview style podcast that would allow me access to any guest I wanted.

Betsy began her public accounting career in 1985 at a then “Big 8” firm, joined Maher Duessel in 1991, and is President and Director of Non-Profit Services for the firm. She also serves as Partner in Charge of the firm’s employee benefit plan audit team. Betsy serves as Engagement Partner for a wide range of governmental and non-profit audit clients including municipalities, school districts, community colleges, authorities, arts/cultural organizations, associations, community development entities, environmental/conservation organizations, foundations, HUD funded entities, human service agencies, libraries, and religious entities. She has extensive knowledge in Single Audit compliance. Betsy has been tapped as a key presenter at numerous professional conferences for organizations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Not-For-Profit Section and the AICPA Not-for-Profit Industry Conference.
